It's all about happiness

I am often asked the question, what does it take to be good? I have come to the conclusion that being good is the quest for happiness. Good people are happy people, bad people are miserable people. Being good is a choice and so is being happy.

You can't buy happiness, although many people try. You can buy temporary thrills and entertainment, but eventually the new and exciting gets old and boring. The only way to have lasting happiness is to live like happy people live. There is an old adage that goes, wickedness never was happiness. If that is true, then righteousness is always happiness. In the Eight Pearls of Is we learn that to be satisfied our needs have to be met. These needs can only be met with the proper action.

The first pearl talks about our need for Eternal Life. Who wants to die? I mean, what happy person wants to cease to exist? We all crave, yearn and will pay almost any price to stay alive and healthy. If we could pay to stay young we all would try and pay the price. The pyramids in Egypt were built to give the royalty a chance for immortality. Our health care system today is almost as impressive a structure and tries to accomplish the same thing.

Eternal life is the most important of all religious topics. No matter how we believe in God, or who we believe God is, His ability to grant Eternal Life is at the core of those beliefs. Without dictating conscious or suggesting one way to worship God, this is a sure fact; as Human Beings, we must humbly submit to the will of God in all things. We must each decide who God is and what he expects of us. The hope for Eternal Life is a need that is burned into our humanity. No amount of political correctness can wish it away. Since it's part of us, we might as well admit it.

When we decide to humbly submit to God we are granted a liberating feeling of youthful vitality. Even the elderly can be like children when they know they will live after death. Is this why religion is so important to people? If the feeling of youth and vitality is so important to all of us, why have we stopped talking about it? The Fountain of Youth will not be found in a bottle, it will be found inside our own beliefs and actions.

Finding Truth

I haven't made any posts lately because I have been busy finishing up an MBA. Stasticics was a class that was particularly challenging for me. On more than one occation I got a sinking, hopeless feeling I often get when I am overwealmed and can't do it on my own. During these times when I am stretched beyond my own abilities I turn to God for guidance and aid. I haven't been let down yet.

In statistics I learned that the science of probabilities is a powerful method for testing a hypothesis. I learned that mathematics doesn't allow anything to be proven to be true, only proven not to be false. In the words of the scientist we can reject the null or fail to reject the null, nothing more. Because of this limitation, science doesn't allow a final conclusion to be drawn. Imagine a line getting closer and closer to another line but never touching it. The two lines will never touch, no matter how infinitely close they get. As a matter of practical application the thought makes me frustrated and exhausted. I cannot live my life never achieving full happiness.

Faith is another method for discovering the truth. The faith method starts out using the scientific method, complete with hypothesis and proofs. As the striver gets closer to the knowlege of the truth something wonderful happens, the line on the other side of the equation rises and touches the line of the striver. Light is not invented, truth is not deducted, they are gifted. Light and Truth are alive and act as independent agents of happiness.

The space vortex in my book is made of light and truth. This river of pure living intelligence cannot be entered in without an invitation. The seeker must knock, in this case musically, and if the vortex likes the seekers song, it will take him in. The space vortex allows the Isian into the presence of Eternity, the Isian cannot enter in on its own. Entering into Eternity represents accepting the fullness of light, truth and happiness. All of the needs of the Eight Pearls of Is are satisfied if the voyager enters in worthily. Our desire for Eternal life, hope, prosperity, competence, security, strength, love and autonomy are all granted through this divine power.

The Isian represents you and me and our quest for happiness. Science will take us part way to happiness, but it will never be able to finish the voyage. A life lived like a scientist will leave us constantly learning, but never coming to a knowledge of the truth. We don't have to wait for a scientist to tell us we can be happy, be an Isian and ask God for light and truth to come to you. Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
